Computer Society of India (CSI)

     The seed for the Computer Society of India (CSI) was first shown in the year 1965 with a handful of IT enthusiasts who were a computer user group and felt the need to organize their activities. They also wanted to share their knowledge and exchange of ideas on what they felt was a fast emerging sector. Today the CSI takes pride in being the largest and most professionally managed association of and for IT professionals in India. The purposes of the Society are scientific and educational directed towards the advancement of the theory and practice of computer science and IT. The organisation has grown to an enviable size of 100,000 strong members consisting of professionals with varied backgrounds including Software developers, Scientists, Academicians, Project Managers, CIO's , CTO's & IT vendors to just name a few. It has spread its branches all over the country. Currently having more than 500 student branches and rooted firmly at 73 different locations, CSI has plans of opening many more chapters & activity centers in smaller towns and cities of the country. The idea is to spread the knowledge, and provide opportunities to as many interested as possible.

  • It has been set up for improving technical knowledge of students and bringing them closer to the practical world of computer science and technology.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

      IEEE is a non profit professional association with more than 3,67,000 members including 73,000 students in over 150 countries. The global organization helps and supports development and application of technology and science around the world for the benefit of the humanity, the individual and the professional IEEE serves as a major publisher of scientific journals and as a conference organizer. It is also a leading developer of industrial standards in broad range of disciplines including electric power, and energy, biomedical technology and health care, information technology, information assurance, telecommunications and nano technology. IEEE develops and participates in educational activities such as accreditation of electrical engineering programmes in institutions of higher learning.

IEEE CE Perumon 

  • A unit of IEEE functions in our college and our members take active part in its programmes. HUB level and National level programmes are organized in the college. WIE (Wowen in Engineering), an affinity group of IEEE is also very active in the campes.

Indian Society for Technical Education(ISTE)

      The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is the leading National Professional non-profit making society for the Technical Education System. ISTE chapter college of Engineering Perumon is an active chapter under ISTE Kerala Section and regularly conducts different types of programmes with the motto of Career and Personality Development of Teachers and Students.

OBJECTIVES

  • To formulate the general goals & responsibilities of technical education.
  • To adjust curriculum & educational processes to changing conditions.
  • To develop effective teachers & educational administrators.
  • To improve instructional methods & practices & administrative usages.
  • To enhance professional ideals & standards.
  • To foster research as a function complementary to teaching.
  • To cultivate fraternal spirit amongst the teachers, administrators, industrialists & professionals.
  • To bring about effective linkage between technical institutions industry & society.
  • To award honorary fellowships, Awards and Prizes, for furthering the objectives of Technical Education.
  • To Prepare and Publish quality Resource material (Learning Materials and CDs) Degree Level Students.

Society of Automotive Engineers India

      SAEINDIA is India's leading resource for mobility technology. As an individual member-driven society of mobility practitioners the ownership of SAEINDIA rests with its members who are Individuals from the mobility community, which includes Engineers Executives from Industry, Government Officials, Academics and Students SAEINDIA is a strategic alliance partner of SAE International registered in India as an Indian nonprofit engineering and scientific society dedicated to the advancement of mobility industry in India.

  • The SAE Collegiate club of College of Engineering Perumon was established in April 2018. The club aims at activities that continuously elevate the quality of engineering education among its fellow members and the institution as a whole.

NPTEL LOCAL CHAPTER-SWAYAM

      NPTEL local chapter was established in College of engineering Perumon on January 2018. NPTEL local chapter,CEP has been recognized as an an ACTIVE local chapter. https://nptel.ac.in/LocalChapter/college_homepage.php?collegeid=1367

      NPTEL is an acronym for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. NPTEL provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Science and humanities streams.

      SWAYAM (Study Web of Active Learning by Young and Aspiring Minds) is the National MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) portal being developed by MHRD, Govt. of India. NPTEL is the official SWAYAM national coordinator for engineering. All NPTEL online certification courses are SWAYAM courses too and they are available on the SWAYAM platform as well. NOC stands for NPTEL Online Certification. NPTEL has started offering online certification courses through its portal https://onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in.

      There are 10 hours, 20 hours as well as 40 hours courses offered twice a year.

  • Joining/enrolling for an NPTEL online course is free
  • The videos and associated study material may also be downloaded for free.
  • Learning from the course, submitting assignments, participating in the discussion forum is free.
  • To write the final exam, you need to pay a nominal fee.

Expected Outcome  

  • Participants receiving quality instruction and education in select topics and skills can improve their employability and widen their knowledge base, get introduced to new domains.
  • Across India and professionals from the industry which will enrich the learning experience.
  • Inculcate mode of self-learning.
  • Evaluate themselves on how they compare against the pool of students nationwide.
  • After successful completion of the course each participants and mentor are eligible for industry recognized certificate.
  • These courses and certificates can be quoted while applying to internships at companies.
